Math
This week in math we are going to be wrapping up chapter 4. We are finally going to officially learn how to divide with fractions, though students have been waiting since the first day of the chapter when they heard our awesome songs. Check them out in the math/science links tab! We will have review days Friday (11/15) and Monday (11/18), and I am shooting to have our test next Tuesday (11/19). Students should be sure to begin reviewing material early so they are not cramming at the last minute. Vocabulary words will also be tested. Science We are gong to be learning about galaxies this week and next week in science. This is a short lesson, taken out of a chapter that we will not fully be covering due to science standards. Students will learn about the Big Bang Theory, dark matter, 3 types of galaxies, and more! It's a short but interesting lesson. There will be an open notes quiz for this lesson on 11/22. *MATH AND SCIENCE BINDER CHECK ON 11/18-19* A binder check is done to make sure that students have all of the required papers from the term in their binders, clipped in, and in order. These count as a test grade. A list will be provided soon with all of the papers students should have. BINDER LIST English Language Arts, Reading and History Writing: We will be finishing our 5 paragraph essays of What You May Not Know About Me. At this point students are typing their work into a document in Google classroom and practicing editing and revising skills. Grammar: Classwork continues to reinforce complex and compound sentences. Reading: We continue in collaborative Massachusetts Book Award Book groups practicing reading fluency and collaborative discussion. We will be reading from the excerpt The Story of My Life from study sync. Students will be practicing annotating vocabulary, sequence of events and character traits in their paper books. Students will review the delicate difference between connotation and denotation. We will practice constructing a RACE response to a writing prompt. History: Our last lesson of Ancient Mesopotamia is to learn about Mesopotamian mythology. Students have chosen a god and will be reviewing the elements of a story by writing up a graphic organizer Comments are closed.
